Thank you for purchasing SmartScan from Kwikset Americas #1 Selling Lockset. SmartScan is the first widely available biometric deadbolt for your home. Take control of who has access to your home with SmartScan.
This video is a brief overview on what is unique to the installation and programming of the SmartScan system." Please read your installation and programming manuals prior to installing the SmartScan. Take the time to read your instruction manuals. The manuals go into greater detail on your SmartScan system. We will begin with the assumption that you have an existing deadbolt installed. Please refer to the Door Preparation Instructions if your door doesn’t already have a deadbolt installed.
Contents of SmartScan Box
Familiarize yourself with the contents that came with your SmartScan System. Your SmartScan System comes with the following items:
Interior assembly (will cover be on when shipped)
Exterior assembly
Mounting Plate and interior assembly mounting screws
Latch and Strike with mounting screws
Hardware including mounting bolts (called screws in current directions)
(my box had an additional bag of screws/bolts)
Items needed for installation
Philips screwdriver
Four AA alkaline batteries
The following are not necessary but make the process easier. (???)
Electric drill
1/16” drill bit
Tape
Nail or push pin
Get your SmartScan and materials within reach before beginning the installation process.
Begin by removing the old deadbolt. (quick montage of process)
