MANILA, MORE THAN JUST RP’S GATEWAY
Monday, 5 December 2005, Office of Tourism Information
There is so much more to Manila than simply being the visitors’ gateway to the Philippines’ 7,107 wonders.
This is the Department of Tourism (DOT)’s newest campaign disclosed during the launch of the Metropolitan Manila Guide (MMG), a tie-up publication with Cendant Philippines.
A handy four-in-one guidebook on Manila’s shopping, dining, entertainment, and spa, the MMG, which is originally in English, will be translated into six different languages – Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Russian, French, and German and will be distributed to the Philippine embassies abroad and DOT’s foreign offices.
Tourism Secretary Ace Durano explained, “This joint venture is indeed timely since the DOT is implementing its marketing plans to promote Manila, not solely as the entryway to the Philippines, but more so as a shopping, dining, and entertainment hub.”
“Manila, the country’s government, commercial, and educational center, is bustling with a wide variety of daily activities. Thus, this travel guide is an essential tool for travelers to fully appreciate what the city has to offer,” said Tourism Director for Product Research and Development Elizabeth Nelle.
According to Cendant Philippines Executive Vice-President Jay Bautista, “The DOT and Cendant Philippines deem that it is the perfect time to showcase what the nation’s capital city is made of and strut the myriad possibilities that visitors can enjoy.”
